Chapter 2 : Delving : Part 2

AS the others moved down the rubble and made it to the bottom without incident, it was Vogh’s turn to do so.  Light on her feet Vogh surveyed the rocks and picks the most sturdiest of them to step on.  She easily made it down and was ready.  She looked up to see how Talin was going to do.  She had a feeling he would navigate it just as easy as her.

Surprise Round

Several (4) small monstrous humanoids that look like halfling sized bipedal rats step out behind the group on top the rubble pile wielding swords.

Four more step out of the shadows of the cavern off to the groups right.

Then three raise up from being covered in garbage off to their left.

That ends the surprise round.

Talin
———————————————————–
Talin will ready an action to attack anything that comes close and wait for Vogh’s music to kick in.

Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh wondered how in the hell the rat like humanoids were able to sneak up behind them so silently.  It unnerved her a little, but she turned the worry to a sound from her horn.  It was just a light tune and so it didn’t travel far, but it certainly aided and bolstered her allies.

Inspire Courage give +5 to attack and damage.

20:57, Today: Vogh rolled 27 using 1d20+12.  knowledge check to ID these things.

Vogh has never seen one in person but these are definitely ratmen ratlings, the plague of the Ptolus sewers everyone complains about and that the Church issued a decree and reward for killing.

Jule raises his torch high and jumps to the right, slashing down with his longsword. His sword slashes clean through the first ratling and follows through its small body to the next. The long sword passes through the second as well, clanging noisily against the wall.

Otule tumbles the opposite direction and slashes the throat of one ratling.

Vogh will act here, but I’m writing all of them so it’s done.

Sam moves next to Otule and taps him on the shoulder the make room, but cannot get to the ratlings with his companion in the way.

Chule joins his brother but faces the same issue as Jule takes up the whole narrow passage.

The ratlings move forward and swing with all their tiny might while also lunging in behind their swords to bite. None of their nipping little mouths are able to connect through the men’s strong armor but both Juel and Sam take hits.

All four atop the pile come skittering down charging at Vogh and Talin.

Talin drops into a crouch and skewers one ratling directly through the stomach. Standing he tosses the lifeless body of the creature onto the stones behind in a bloody mess and brings his sword back into line to parry the second creature’s attack.

One one attack gets through the duo’s defenses and Vogh takes a small cut on her swordarm (4 damage). Their tiny bodies make it easy for the larger humans to keep the snapping jaws at bay.

Round 2

Go ahead and act for both bards

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
As the rats came down from above, Talin had taken one of them out with a well timed strike of his blade, then Vogh felt the sting of the blade of one of the rats come across her arm opening a little line of blood as it falls to the ground.  It was a grim reminder of the dangers in life and Vogh had been through much in her life.  She dropped the horn from her mouth and then slashed her longsword ahead and right into the rat man that just made a poor decision to attack her.

07:55, Today: Vogh rolled 33,20 using d20+15,d6+14.  attack the rat

===========================================================
Talin
———————————————————–
Talin pleased with himself at dispatching a rat before it came close.  He dodged the feeble attempts of the rats to attack him and then gave the rat next to him a great sweep of his blade hoping to take its head off.

He saw briefly out of the corner of his eye that Vogh had taken a kit and was bleeding on the ground.  Stand firm, he told her.  We will kill these nasty creatures.

08:04, Today: Talin rolled 24,15 using d20+15,d6+14.  Attack another rat.

===========================================================
Narrator
———————————————————–
Vogh and Talin take the heads of the ratlings clean off their shoulders, leaving one very terrified little beasty standing before them. It dropped its weapon, turned and scurried back up the collapsed wall to escape.

Otule tumbles between the two ratlings and before they can react his dagger slides into the one’s back, blasting the breath from its lungs.

Sam stabbed into the chest of the surprised ratling after his friend moved past, ending its life as well.

Juel once again went two for two, cleaving through both ratlings.

Poor Chule was left with nothing to hit and he looked quite frustrated, so he moved to secure the only other entrance into the room.

Ten of the little things lay dead around the group, while the one escaped back down the sewer tunnel.

Vogh
———————————————————–
Finishing off the rat was easy work for Vogh.  When she looked up though the last one near them took off back up the rockfall and away into the sewers.  She looked over to Talin to make sure he was okay and then to the others she was with.

Is everyone okay?  Vogh asked the others.  What are we supposed to gather off of these?  Their tails only right?

===========================================================
Jule
———————————————————–
“Yup! Cut ’em off folks! Three gold for each! Woo hoo!”

===========================================================
Chule
———————————————————–
“UNHOLY NINE HELLS!!!” Chule hollers out as he brings his sword in front of him defensively. “Someone get over here! They got a rat big as a horse!”

True to his word, a rat closer to the size of a pony than a rat was moving toward Chule from the other area. Three ratlings surrounded the beast and were moving forward slowly with swords drawn and malice in their eyes.
